Peel and Stick Wallpaper Installation Guide
Upon receiving the wallpaper, follow these simple steps to ensure optimal results:
- Carefully remove the wallpaper from its original packaging and peel off any stickers.
- Gently unroll the wallpaper, avoiding tight rolling.
- Let the wallpaper sit in this unrolled state for at least 48 hours. This allows it to adjust to the new environmental and climatic conditions.
- Once the 48 hours have passed, your wallpaper will be ready for smooth and easy installation.
• Avoid excessive moisture to ensure the longevity of the wallpaper.
• If you ever need to remove the wallpaper, worry not! It's a straightforward process. Start from one corner and gently pull it off. When removing the wallpaper from painted walls, using a blow dryer to heat the edges can minimize the risk of peeling off the wall paint.
• Please note that our wallpaper has undergone successful testing. However, Miami Walls and Decor cannot assume responsibility for any damaged surfaces or difficulties during the removal process.
Step 1. Get ready
Make installation a breeze and share the excitement with a friend or family member! Doing it together not only makes the process easier but also more enjoyable.
Before you begin, ensure you have all the required tools on hand for a smooth installation:
Essential Tools for Installation:
- Level and pencil
- Squeegee
- Brush, sandpaper, or metal spatula for wall preparation
- Step stool or step ladder
Step 2. Preparation
Preparation for Installation:
- Ensure you have the correct amount of wallpaper rolls, with matching designs and colors. Verify that the serial numbers on sheets form a sequence.
- Remove electrical outlets and skirting boards from the area where you plan to apply the wallpaper.
- Clear the wall from old wallpapers, dust, and dirt to create a clean surface for installation.
- Avoid using strong chemical cleaning products, as they may hinder the wallpaper's adhesion to the wall.
- For rugged walls, it is advisable to fill and smooth the surface before priming or painting. If possible, opt for a light-colored paint, especially if you purchased white or light wallpaper.
- Allow freshly painted walls to dry for 2-7 days, depending on the type of paint used, before installing the wallpaper.
Step 3. Installation
Applying the Wallpaper:
- Use a level to draw a straight vertical line on the wall where you intend to begin applying the wallpaper.
- Each sheet is marked with a serial number for easy sequencing.
- Avoid excessive stretching or dragging of the wallpaper during application. Stretched wallpaper may shrink back over time, leading to an uneven appearance.
- Start at the top of the sheet and peel off approximately 12 inches (30 cm) of the protective layer from the backside of the wallpaper.
- Carefully align the first sheet with the drawn line, as the accuracy of the initial application will determine the alignment of subsequent sheets.
- Smooth out the wallpaper from top to bottom, using a squeegee to eliminate air bubbles. Work from the center towards the edges.
- Continue peeling off the protective layer in a top-to-bottom direction while pressing and smoothing the wallpaper against the wall.
- Allow the wallpaper to apply itself evenly. If necessary, you can make minor adjustments by gently peeling off a small section.
- When applying additional sheets, ensure that the edges do not overlap but are placed very close to each other.
- After 24 hours, repeat the smoothing process, and your installation is complete!
